FAVORITE STORIES I REMEMBER ABOUT DINEEN

STORY ONE-a tiny Dineen

When Dineen was about 9 years old she went to spend the night at a girlfriends the

next day she came home crying and I asked her what was wrong. She said, " I was

at my friends and I was making pancakes for breakfast and her mom came out

and grabbed the bowl from me and said, " Thats not the way to make pancakes,"

I told Dineen there are 101 ways to make pancakes De, she shouldn't have told

you your way was wrong. As far as I'm concerned there is no right or wrong way

to make them. She stopped crying and felt better after that.

STORY TWO-an older mischievious Dineen

When Dineen was around 15 I came home and she had a large grapefruit sized

hole burned into the front of her sweatshirt. I said," What happened to your shirt."

She said my cousin and I were playing with hairspray and lighting it on fire like a

blow torch and things just got out of hand. I then proceeded to lecture her on

this dangerous way to play with hairspray and about fire altogether. Not a good

thing but looking back now its one of my memories about mischievious De.

STORY THREE-just a baby De

When De was about four years old and we were out at my mother's house for the

night she came down the stairs holding one hand over the right side of her head

I said, "Whats wrong De do you have a headache." She said, not anymore, I did

have but I don't now. I said, " take your hand down." She took her hand down and

to my astonishment she had lopped off one of her pigtails. I guess the elastic

was to tight and she being so young didn't know how to take it out. I then had

to lop off the other pigtail so she wouldn't be lopsided.

STORY FOUR-a phase

When Dineen was about 15 years old the popular hair style at that time was

spikes of different colors standing straight up on their heads. Dineen decided

this is what she wanted and asked me, "What do you think mom." I said it was

up to her ( but secretly I hated the idea and was hoping that by agreeing with her

she wouldn't do it} but it didn't work and off she went to the hairdressers to get it

done. When she arrived home it was all I could do to stop myself from laughing

as it was quite bizarre, different colored spikes, green, orange, blue standing

straight up on her head. She told me when she was at the hairdressers, and

the hairdresser spun her chair around to let her out there were three women

sitting there and they all started laughing when they saw her. She was so

serious when she asked, " What do you think they were laughing at mom".

I just said, "I don't know." Thank God it was too hard for her to spike up

everyday, so after a week it went back to normal.

STORY FIVE

Dineen was around 16 years old and had earned her brown belt in Martial Arts

We were at my sister Max's, my brother Bill was there and she challenged him

saying she could put him on the ground, so outside they went and her so sure

of herself. In the blink of an eye Bill had her on the ground and she was so

flabergasted that she wasn't able to put him down.

STORY SIX

When Dineen was little around 7 or 8 she was chosen to be an angel in the school

christmas concert, I sewed her an angel costume all in white, trimmed in a gold

Christmas tree streamer, with a little gold halo, and large flapping wings, trimmed

in gold also, she was so delighted with it, the costume, that she put it on and was

flapping her angel wings all over the place. Those were happier days I wish I

could bring back.

STORY SEVEN-unselfish De

For my birthday one year Dineen bought me a lot of gifts,

a white stuffed bear as I never had one, a white wicker book stand, a cake,

and several other gifts, altogether it cost her a lot of money. At this time

Dineen only had a part-time job at the Burger King and didn't make a lot of

money and she spent most of her check on my birthday. She said she wanted

mom's birthday to be special and it was because of De.

STORY EIGHT

Dineens graduation came and I sewed her a new dress to wear. She was so proud of this dress and off she went to the graduation. When she got there she told me that everyone commented on how beautiful her dress was, one woman even said, "you must have paid at least $500.00 for that dress." Happier Times For Sure.
